About me

“In the depth of winter, I finally learned there was inside me an invincible summer.”Albert Camus

Head & shoulders 10-2-12 cropped e-mailThis quote first came to my attention many years ago when I was going through my own personal winter. It has informed my life ever since, and recently it inspired me to write a memoir, Finding My Invincible Summer, which was published in late 2012. In this blog I will be tracking not only the progress of my book as people read and respond to it, but also my personal progress in living my “invincible summer.”

I expect to include insights about life in general and my work and special interests in particular. I am a translator by profession, having divided my career between working in-house for international organizations and freelancing, with clients throughout the world. I am passionately interested in Brazil, and I have roots and wonderful relatives in Norway, where my father was born. Other interests include landscape design, which I have been studying for several years, and the Enneagram. I live in Southern California with my twin Malt-Tzu pups, Sunshine and Snow.
